Julia argues that decisions made in isolation about what should and shouldn’t be funded on the NHS, which vary from region to region, are not fair or democratic. IVF is a treatment which is provided on this basis and this is not fully explained to the public. Nor is it fully explained that the NHS has a finite budget, and that if money is spent providing a service in one area, such as IVF, this is taking money away from another area of service provision.
